The North West Provincial Legislature invites nominations for the position of Integrity Commissioner. Members of the Public and Organisations are invited to submit nominations. The Integrity Commissioner shall perform duties specified under the Code of Conduct and Ethics for Members of the North West Provincial Legislature which include among others:

  • Investigate any alleged violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethics upon receiving a complaint or on his or her own accord, and providing reports on the results of the investigation to the relevant structure of the Legislature, 
  • Develop and maintain a Register of Member's interests, 
  • Provide personal advice and counsel to Members of the Legislature regarding the Code; 
  • Develop and implement systems in the Office of the Integrity Commissioner, 
  • Perform any other work as required in terms of the Code of Conduct and Ethics; 
  • Provide quarterly and annual reports to the Executive Authority on the work performed. 

The candidate must be a woman or man who is fit and proper to hold such office, and who:-

  • Holds a Grade 12 certificate coupled with a minimum NQF level 7 qualification as recognised by SAQA in Administration, Social Sciences or any related qualification. 
  • Is a South African citizen; 
  • Must be 18 years or above; 
  • Shall not hold office in any political party or political organisation; 
  • Shall not be a Member of the National Assembly, permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces or a Member of a Municipal Council, 
  • Shall not be an un-rehabilitated insolvent, 
  • Shall not have been declared to be of an unsound mind by a court of the Republic, 
  • Shall be a person with high discretion and able to maintain confidentiality, 
  • Shall be independent and impartial, 
  • Shall be a person of integrity and honesty; 
  • Shall have high knowledge of Ethics, 
  • Possess knowledge of law, public policy, politics and social sciences, 
  • Has specialised knowledge of or experience, for an accumulative period of at least 10 years, in the administration of justice, law, public administration or public finance; and 
  • No criminal conviction. 

The conditions of service and remuneration of Integrity Commissioner shall be determined by the Speaker. 

This is a contract position for five (5) years. 

Nominations should be accompanied by a comprehensive curriculum vitae and motivational letter from a person nominating and the nominee must accept the nomination in writing. 

A comprehensive CV of a nominee must have at least three (03) referees with contact details, originally certified copies of all qualifications/required documents and ID. It is the nominee's responsibility to have foreign qualifications evaluated by SAQA and attach report thereof with application.
