METER READERS (3 POSITIONS) 
Duration: Permanent 
Location: 2X Thabazimbi, 1X Northam 


SALARY: Post Level 9 (169,120.32) per annum; Additional benefits attached to the position are as follows: (i) Medical aid cover is subsidised by 60% of the total contribution for family members; (ii) Pension fund contribution by Municipality is 18% of basic salary; (iii) Housing subsidy is available on repayment of a bond provided that the house is registered in the name of the employee.

QUALIFICATIONS: Grade 11 or equivalent qualification. 

EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year’s relevant working experience. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Receiving instructions, listings of variances to investigate meters. Recording correct readings. Records faulty meters and reporting to supervisor. Report meters that are not on the route list. Disconnect meters that are not on the route list. Arranging with customers whose meters are in restricted areas or properties.

GIS SPECIALIST

SALARY PACKAGE: Post Level 3 (R 389,493.24) per annum. Additional benefits attached to the position are as follows: (i) Travelling allowance of 650km, that is calculated according to the vehicle that you use for business purposes; (ii) R439.00 per month towards cell phone use; (iii) Medical aid cover is subsidised by 60% of the total contribution for family members; (iv) Pension fund contribution by Municipality is 18% of basic salary; (v) Housing subsidy is available on repayment of a bond provided that the house is registered in the name of the employee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: BTech/ Degree in Geographical Information Systems or equivalent. Professional registration will be an added advantage. Knowledge of map analysis and GIS principles. A valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years relevant working experience in GIS environment.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Provide on-going spatial data maintenance and dissemination, end-user support and the generation of maps and other GIS reports and information product. Provide technical expertise related specifically to asset management. Responsible for the compiling and organising GIS data from maps, databases, and other sources. Direct the preparation of regular status reports, highlighting GIS issues requiring attention. Provide on-going maintenance/ creation of GIS datasets such as municipal infrastructure, roads, and property information. Providing technical support and expertise to internal staff and the public. Liaise with other departments, agencies and public on technical matters related to GIS applications and products. Collection of data in the field using Global Positioning System (GPS) units. Monitor the collection and conversion of mapping resources and data. Responsible for the daily input and editing of municipal infrastructure.

BUSINESS INSPECTOR 

SALARY PACKAGE: BASIC SALARY: Post Level 6 (R259, 930.92)) per annum. Additional benefits attached to the position are as follows: (I) Medical aid cover is subsidised by 60% of the total contribution for family members; (ii) Pension fund contribution by Municipality is 18% of basic salary; (iii) Housing subsidy is available on repayment of a bond provided that the house is registered in the name of the employee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 plus National Certificate in Local Economic Development/ Business Management/ Administration or equivalent qualification. Computer Literacy. Valid driver’s license. 

EXPERIENCE: 2 years relevant working experience. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Conduct inspections on all businesses. Administer fines for non-compliance. Monitor payments of annual rates. Monitor compliance with Business Registration Act. Conduct one to one interaction with local business stakeholders to cultivate a multidisciplinary approach, through the development of effective working partnerships for the achievement of local economic growth. Facilitate community development interventions and problem solving, aimed at addressing community needs, caused by economic constraints.
