Raising awareness about animal cruelty

Rustenburg – April month is Animal Cruelty Month and the Rustenburg Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is selling dog and cat collars with chocolates to raise awareness and money for the cause. The collar and chocolate combo for small cats or dogs is R65 and R85 for big dogs. Two rapists handed heavy sentences

NW – South African Police Service (SAPS) provincial commissioner in the North West lieutenant general Sello Kwena has welcomed the maximum sentences handed down by the courts on two convicted rapists. Police investigations by the Mogwase and Wolmaransstad Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Units ensured that the two rapists would spend a long time behind bars for the crimes they were found guilty of committing.

Do not stop!

Rustenburg/Sun City – An unsuspecting motorist almost became a victim after assailants attempted  to ambush him on Swartruggens road on Wednesday 7 April.
As the driver was passing the bridge near the Sun City turn off a rock landed on his windscreen. This has become a tactic that robbers and hijackers use to force motorist to stop whereafter they rob or hijack them. Thankfully due to his quick thinking he refused to stop and drove off.

Murdered while removing punctured tyre

NW – A 58-year-old man was ambushed and shot by robbers while removing a punctured tyre from his car. He died on scene. 
Sello Kgasi was murdered in De Wildt, near Mmakau, on Friday 2 April at about 00:55.

Carnage on NW roads

NW – It seems as if ban on alcohol sales had no effect on road safety over the Easter weekend. More than 15 people lost their lives in the North West province in five days in road accidents recorded during the Easter Holidays. These accidents occurred from Thursday 1 April to Monday 5 April, according to the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management.
