Rustenburg – The CASMAR Impala Rugby Club’s u/20 team showed remarkable resilience in their recent matches. Despite facing tough opponents, they demonstrated great skill and determination on the field. On Friday night, 3 May 2024, the u/20 team played against the formidable Naka Bulls u/20s, narrowly losing 27-20. 

Although the match against Naka Bulls was a friendly, Naka Bulls are one of the top clubs in the country, and the juniors put up an impressive performance.

The following day, Saturday 4 May 2024, saw CASMAR Impala Rugby Club’s first team in action against Welkom Rovers. Despite the efforts of the backline, the first team suffered a 40-22 defeat.
Head coach Johan Engelbrecht praised the team’s efforts, saying, “It was a hard-fought game by both teams, but unfortunately, we couldn’t secure the win.” The second team also faced defeat, losing 27-10.

Looking ahead to Saturday, 11 May 2024, CASMAR Impala Rugby Club is gearing up for their match against Potch Dorp Rugby Club in Potchefstroom. 

Coach Engelbrecht expressed confidence in the team’s potential, particularly highlighting the opportunity for new players to shine. Despite currently being at the bottom of the league, Coach Engelbrecht remains optimistic about the team’s future performances.
