Rustenburg – The minister of the Department of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu, visited three social development facilities in Rustenburg, North West, to mark the launch of annual Child Protection Week (CPW) from 1 to 8 June.

The minister kicked off the tour at SOS Children's Village in Tlhabane West and also visited many other Department of Social Development-run homes. She also visited the Rustenburg Child and Youth Care Centre in Boitekong where who care for 29 youths in conflict with the law.

The launch was wrapped up with a visit to the Rustenburg Temporary Shelter, housing 57 homeless individuals.

“We call on every member of society to protect our most vulnerable – the children – during this COVID-19 pandemic,” said minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu.
