Rustenburg – The Democratic Alliance (DA) and community members from throughout Rustenburg got together on Saturday 7 April to clear away bushes and tidy up an unattended veld. Young and old supported this initiative on the corner of Bosch and Molen streets.

A big thanks to Martha Lerm, Theuns Peens, Tonie Pretorius, Kobus Ferreira, Jurie, Glenwin, Elize Human, Ronel Goddfrey, Willie Delport and his team, Braam Claasen and councillor Cheryl Phillips for this initiative.


The DA team would like to thank Crazy Skips for the bins and Coastal Hire for the bush cutters, chainsaws and toilets. 

In an interview with the Platinum Weekly newspaper, Martha Lerm said: “A huge thank you to everyone involved! It was rewarding work and fun to meet new people who wants to improve Rustenburg. The vibe was amazing, and the hours flew by. We host monthly clean-up campaigns, and anyone is welcome to join.”

Theuns Peens told the Platinum Weekly newspaper that the work and shared comradery of working towards a shared goal was a great experience: “It’s great to be able to join other people who share our passion and want to help clean our once beautiful town.”
