Dikwena sink Polokwane City to boost survival bid

Rustenburg /Phokeng – Platinum Stars gave their Absa Premiership survival hopes a major boost after defeating Polokwane City 2-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday, 7 April.

Stars had so much ground to make up from the bottom of the table and were looking to state that right against Bernard Molekwa’s side. The two sides could not keep possession and lost the ball too cheaply as the first stanza ended goalless. 

Bonginkosi Ntuli broke the deadlock for Dikwena 75 minutes into the second half, with a header inside the box following a free-kick from Gerald Phiri leading by 1-0. However, Phiri sealed the match in stoppage time to make it 2-0 as Dikwena moved to within three points of Ajax Cape Town.
