KICKSTART 2025 WITH NATURE
Explore Kgaswane Mountain Reserve Responsibly!

Rustenburg – Happy New Year, nature lovers! As 2025 kicks off, there’s no better way to embrace fresh beginnings than with a rejuvenating visit to the breathtaking Kgaswane Mountain Reserve. This gem of biodiversity, nestled right in our backyard, is a sanctuary for unique wildlife and awe-inspiring landscapes. But before you lace up those hiking boots or pack the picnic basket, let’s talk about how we can enjoy Kgaswane Mountain Reserve while keeping it pristine for generations to come.

Here’s the lowdown on the CORE RULES for visitors:

  1. Enter at your own risk
Adventure awaits, but it’s up to you to ensure your safety and that of your group. Follow the rules and enjoy responsibly.

  2. The BIG “DO NOTs”
No feeding or disturbing the animals. (They’ve got their own snacks, thank you!)
No messing with plants or specimens. Admire, don’t acquire.
No littering. Use the bins provided and leave only your footprints.
No loud noises or music. Let nature’s symphony take centre stage.
No graffiti. Keep those rocks, trees, and buildings pristine.
  3. Stick to the path
Trails and roads exist for a reason — stay on them. The pools above the waterfall are off-limits, but the protected viewpoint offers a stunning (and safe) view.
  4. Fires in designated areas only
Love a good braai? Us too! Just make sure it’s in a designated area, and remember to extinguish the fire completely before you leave.
  5. Obey all signs
“No Entry” means no entry. Same goes for parking and swimming. Simple as that!

WHY IT MATTERS
Kgaswane Mountain Reserve isn’t just a park — it’s a treasure trove of biodiversity. Every flower, bird, and babbling brook plays a role in this delicate ecosystem. By following these rules, you’re not just a visitor; you’re a guardian of this incredible natural heritage. See you on the trails!

WORDS FROM THE HEART

Tracy Andrews: “The reserve is looking fantastic and green after last year’s devastating fire. Thank you to Rustenburgers for their donations to help support the animals through that time. There are lots of young eland, impala, and zebra. I am excited for 2025. I am really looking forward to spending more time at the Kgaswane Nature Reserve.”

Matthews Kgampe: “Last year was a difficult year, but this year we are hopeful and joyful about the new opportunities and experiences that will come. Kgaswane looks so nice and green after the December holiday. I look forward to my future hikes with friends because the reserve looks breathtaking.”
