Rustenburg – Jenine Bolz is not just an artist; she is a radiant beacon of inspiration and creativity. Her warm, welcoming spirit and extraordinary talent shine through every brushstroke. On Tuesday, 23 July 2024, Platinum Weekly were given the opportunity to visit Jenine at her home, where we witnessed firsthand the magic she brings to the canvas — a talent that is lighting up our community.

Born and raised in Rustenburg, Jenine’s roots run deep in this community. She is happily married and the proud mother of eight-year-old Annine, who attends Laerskool Vastrap. Her ten-year marriage and dedicated teaching career — seven years at Technical High School and four at High School Grenswag — are testaments to her commitment to both her family and her passions.

Jenine’s artistic journey has been profoundly influenced by two exceptional mentors, Marguerite Wyman and Elreza Huygen. “Marguerite has been my guide in the world of acrylics,” Jenine shared, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. “We paint together every second Saturday, and she even crafts the canvases for me. Our sessions are a delightful blend of creativity and camaraderie, and by 1 o’clock, our masterpieces are ready to hang.” Elreza, on the other hand, introduced Jenine to the timeless technique of oil painting. “Oil painting is unique,” Jenine explained. “You can leave your canvas for months and continue working on it, which adds a different layer of depth to the creative process.”

Jenine’s passion for art began unexpectedly when she joined her colleagues for a ‘Colour in Wine’ event, where she first met Marguerite. Since then, her art has evolved beyond mere painting, branching into interior design with Perspex art and custom furniture. “I strive to infuse sentimental value into every piece I create,” she said, her voice filled with emotion.

In addition to her artwork, Jenine founded the Brainiac Study Centre, where she blends her love for teaching with her flair for design. “Decorating the study centre allowed me to express my creativity beyond painting. Each room is a vibrant extension of my artistic vision, filled with colourful and lively atmospheres,” she shared.

When asked about the source of her talents, Jenine humbly remarked, “I don’t believe in innate talent. It’s about how much time you dedicate to your hobbies. Over time, those hobbies develop into skills.” Her love for art was nurtured during her high school years, where she excelled in art-related subjects. She later pursued Multimedia Technology, and graphic design, which paved the way for her teaching career.

Every painting Jenine creates is a spiritual experience, often accompanied by Christian gospel or worship music. “My faith is intertwined with my art. Each piece carries a natural and Christian essence,” she explained. Despite receiving offers to commission her work, Jenine has always focused on personal projects that resonate deeply with her.

One of her most cherished paintings depicts her daughter, Annine, and her father. “My father bought Annine a bicycle at an auction. The front wheel is black, and the back wheel is white. They love spending time together, walking on the plot,” Jenine recounted. This painting, a labour of love, took the longest to complete due to its size and the challenge of capturing their likenesses accurately — a feat she accomplished with Elreza’s guidance.

Jenine’s work is not just about creating beautiful images; it’s about sharing her light and inspiring others.
