Rustenburg – More than 250 members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) from the Rustenburg and Brits clusters were awarded medals for their services at the 2010 soccer world cup, centenary celebrations as well as for 10, 20 and 30 years of service, at the Rustenburg Civic Centre on Wednesday, 27 June.

Speaking at the event, brigadier Johannes Marx commended the police members for their dedication.

In an interview with Platinum Weekly, Brig Marx said the spiralling rate of crime requires both the SAPS and communities to work hand in hand.

Captain Patience Tshupego and captain ZZ Mazibuko were part of the 250 policemen who received awards at the Rustenburg Civic Centre.
