Helicopter crash
claims two lives
Rustenburg/ Rooiberg – A helicopter crash claimed the lives of two men near Bela-Bela and Rooiberg on Friday, 1 June at approximately 11h30.
The helicopter was flying over Lumary farm when it crashed, killing Herman Wenhold (37) and Jacque Oelofse (31).
They flew from Rustenburg and were on their way to Zebula Lodge, not far from where the wreckage was found. They died on impact.
When the police and paramedics arrived on the scene, they discovered the bodies of the two men trapped in the wreckage.
According to brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, police spokesperson in Rooiberg, forensic and aviation investigations are underway.
