Rustenburg/ Kroondal – A case involving Koos Strydom, the alleged mastermind behind yet another murder, that of a Kroondal property owner, has been postponed to 29 May.

In what is described as bizarre, it is alleged that Strydom collaborated with accused number one, 25-year old Aaron Sithole. Sithole allegedly pulled the trigger in the murder of the owner of a property where a scrapyard business was conducted.

The background to this case reads more like the script from a box office thriller than reality.

It is alleged that Strydom rented property owned by the deceased and used it to operate a scrapyard. Later, Strydom allegedly wanted to buy the property but the sale never went through. Allegedly, a life policy was put in place, to benefit the survivor, should Strydom or the owner of the property die.

“Sometime in June 2014, the lady was found murdered on the smallholding she owned. Strydom, in keeping with the policy agreement, was duly paid close to R2-million,” said sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, police spokesperson.

On Wednesday, 28 March, the police investigating the murder, charged Strydom with the murder before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court and the case was postponed to 29 May.

In the background, another murder case in which Strydom is allegedly implicated is currently being heard before the Brits Magistrates’ Court. The case involved the brutal murder of a couple in Mooinooi, whose burnt car was found in Magaliesburg.

Strydom and his co-accused are facing two counts of conspiracy to murder, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of rape, robbery with aggravating circumstance and two counts of murder.

The same-sex married couple went missing on 10 December after they left for a funeral in Pretoria, but never arrived. Their burnt car was found on 16 December in the Magaliesburg area.
