Rustenburg – Five suspects selling ivory are behind bars after a police swoop at a house in Lefaragatlha village following a tip-off on Tuesday, 27 March. The operation was conducted by the Rustenburg Cluster Crime Combatting Unit. 


According to lieutenant colonel Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, the police arrested two suspects, aged between 28 and 36, and confiscated Elephant tusks with an estimated value of R 600 000.00. 


The suspects appeared before the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court in Tlhabane on Thursday, 29 March. The North West acting provincial commissioner, major general Ryno Naidoo applauded the members for a sterling job.
