Break down turned robbery

Brits – A young family traveling past Brits recently escaped with their lives after their vehicle broke down on the N4.

Brits communications officer Talane said the incident occurred on Sunday 4 March at about 22h15. A man traveling with his children had a breakdown on the highway and as they were trying to fix the vehicle, two armed men approached them.

They held the man and his children at gunpoint and ordered them into the bushes next to the road. While the family was in the bushes, away from the vehicle, the two gunmen searched through their vehicle and took off with cell phones and other possessions. 

No one was injured during the incident, but police are currently investigating a case of robbery.
