Rustenburg – Two police officials appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 25 January on charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.


The two suspects, aged 30 and 35, were apprehended on Tuesday, 23 January in Rustenburg. The two, a man and woman, were pulled over by police. Upon searching the vehicle, a computer box, .38 special revolver with the serial number filed off, live ammunition and a cartridge were discovered in the two police officials’ vehicle. They were arrested for failing to account for the items found during the search. 


The two is stationed at the Rustenburg Local Criminal Record Centre and Dobsonville respectively. The duo faces an internal departmental investigation.

“This will serve as a warning that we will not hesitate to deal with our own members who are involved in crime,” says brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, police spokesperson.
