Rustenburg – “Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink…” These words form part of a poem written by Samuel Taylor, meant for seafarers of the olden day, but still very applicable today.

Rustenburg faces extreme heat coupled with intermittent water shortages.

One of the city’s citizens came up with a brilliant idea, an idea which has helped many folks to find some relief when their taps had dried up. Gideon and Rina Joubert, owners of Afri-Chic Guesthouse and Conference Center, decided to extend their borehole pipeline and connect a tap to the outside of their premises.

This idea has brought much relief to people, who are now able to fill up containers with free fresh borehole water, or simply to quench their thirst when passing by – a first-class idea and a way to give back to the community.
