Sibanye-Stillwater strengthens Rustenburg community services
Rustenburg – Sibanye-Stillwater donated critical emergency response vehicles, a water tanker, and waste management equipment to the North West Department of Health and the Rustenburg Local Municipality, on Friday, 25 October 2024. This donation is part of Sibanye-Stillwater’s Social and Labour Plans (SLP) initiatives, aimed at improving essential services and infrastructure in the area.
The donation includes two ambulances and an emergency response vehicle for the North West Department of Health, a waste removal truck and three skip bins for the Ikemeleng community, and a water tanker truck to address the local water crisis. This support bolsters emergency health services, enhances waste management, and improves access to clean water, especially for informal settlements facing shortages.
Rustenburg executive mayor Shiela Mabale-Huma emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating, “The key intent of the partnership between the mine, municipality, and North West Department of Health is to improve services for the Rustenburg community.”
This initiative not only addresses urgent service needs but also creates jobs, with the municipality and Department of Health planning to hire additional drivers and support staff to operate the new resources.
