Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Our city, Rustenburg continues to produce exceptional talent, and this year, one of its brightest daughters has made the entire province proud. Naledi Ramaboea, from Rustenburg, is making national waves both in modelling and community development.

In November 2025, Naledi walked away with two national modelling honours — Top Model of the Year at the Supreme Industry Awards and Star Model of the Year at the South African Star Awards, both held in Gauteng. These awards recognised her excellence, consistency, and the impact of her work beyond the runway. She is also the current Mrs Township South Africa Exclusive 1st Runner-Up 2025, a title she earned on 7 December 2024. Her reign continues until 2026.

A Rustenburg heart anchored in purpose
Naledi’s achievements extend far beyond titles. She is the founder of Alina Motene’s Princess and Queen Project, a Rustenburg-rooted initiative named in honour of her late grandmother. Established in 2018, the project focuses on restoring dignity for the girl child by supplying reusable sanitary pads to girls in disadvantaged communities — a crucial need in many parts of North West.

The foundation also leads:

  • The Dress a Princess Campaign, uplifting young women overcoming hardship
  • Matric Dance Giveaways, offering support to girls unable to afford their special night

“Everything we do is rooted in dignity, empowerment and hope,” Naledi shares. Her work touches lives across Rustenburg and surrounding communities.

A dream born in local school halls
Like many local children, Naledi’s journey began in a Bonwakgogo Primary School classroom. She first entered a pageant in Grade 1, sparking a passion that would follow her through life. Though she didn’t win that early competition, the dream stayed alive.

As the industry evolved, opportunities emerged that blended beauty with purpose — a perfect match for Naledi’s values. In 2018, she entered her first adult pageant, choosing platforms that prioritised community service. “Modelling is my passion, but giving back and leaving a legacy is my purpose,” she says.

Words for Rustenburg women entering the industry
Naledi encourages local women to step forward boldly: “Pageants and awards are open to anyone who is passionate and meets the requirements. In my case, Rustenburg nominated me — the same community that witnessed my work. If you are genuine, respectful and consistent, people will carry you on their shoulders.”

Her message to women everywhere: “Never give up on your dreams. Don’t let your light dim. Believe in yourself, ask God to guide you, and trust His timing.”

What keeps her going
For Naledi, motivation comes from the impact she sees in the lives she touches. “Giving hope where there was none, seeing smiles, and knowing I’ve left footprints of kindness — that is what carries me through tough times.”

Balancing mining and modelling
A proud Rustenburg professional, Naledi also works full-time as a strata control officer in the mining industry — a field synonymous with the North West. Balancing long shifts that sometimes start as early as 4 AM with her modelling commitments is not easy. “It takes sacrifice, sleepless nights and discipline,” she admits. But her passion fuels her, and she remains committed to both her career and calling.

Naledi’s greatest joy is her 3-year-old son, who inspires her to work even harder and leave a legacy of purpose.

Rustenburg’s beacon of beauty and service
From the mining shafts to national runways, from township communities to award stages, Naledi Ramaboea represents Rustenburg with pride, strength and excellence.

Her story is a reminder to the women of our city and province that greatness can grow from right here at home — and that purpose-driven work can touch lives far beyond our borders.
