Pendoring Low Bridge: a flooded struggle
Rustenburg – Heavy rainfall in the area once again led to the familiar sight of the Pendoring Low Bridge overflowing, leaving both motorists and pedestrians up in arms.
According to an anonymous local resident, the bridge began overflowing on Sunday 9 February 2025, making it impassable.
“This happens every time a heavy storm sweeps through, bringing large volumes of water,” the anonymous source shared, exasperated by the ongoing problem. The overflowing bridge meant that commuters had no safe passage, forcing them to seek alternative routes or turn back altogether.
A group of four local residents, including the anonymous source, took matters into their own hands. Determined to improve the conditions for road users, they began moving large rocks and stones to make the road more even and navigable. “It will take us about two days to fix it,” the source estimated, highlighting both the severity of the damage and their commitment to restoring accessibility.
Unfortunately, no feedback from the municipality has been provided at this stage regarding possible repairs or long-term solutions to prevent future flooding and damage.
