A Light That Shone Bright – remembering Patience Kwami
Rustenburg – The Bergsig Academy community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Patience Kwami (15, Grade 9), a beloved student whose kindness, leadership, and radiant smile touched the lives of many.
Patience passed away on 1 February 2025, leaving a deep void in the hearts of her friends, teachers, and loved ones. In honour of her memory, Bergsig Academy held a special memorial on Monday, 3 February 2025, where classmates and educators gathered to celebrate her life and share treasured memories.
A celebration service for Patience will take place on Thursday, 6 February 2025, at His Vision Church, Old Pretoria Road, Rustenburg. Friends, family, and community members are invited to pay their final respects and honour the young life that brought so much joy to others.

A tribute to a beautiful soul
At the memorial, educator Anri Liebenberg shared a moving poem in remembrance of Patience, reflecting on her kind heart, bright spirit, and the silent struggles she may have carried.
