A LIFE OF SERVICE CUT SHORT
Mooinooi – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in North West are mourning the tragic loss of 32-year-old constable Keagile Rampa, who died in a motor vehicle accident in the early hours of Saturday, 25 January 2025.
The accident occurred at approximately 02:30 on the N4 near Majakaneng. Constable Rampa and a fellow officer were returning to Mooinooi police station in a state vehicle after responding to a distress call in Bapong, where four hijacking victims had been abandoned. Reports indicate that a tyre burst caused the police vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, to overturn.
Emergency and medical rescue services (EMRS) declared constable Rampa dead at the scene. Her colleague, who was also in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital. The four victims they had rescued were also injured and received medical treatment at local hospitals.
Acting provincial commissioner, major general Patrick Asaneng, expressed his deepest condolences to constable Rampa’s family, friends, and colleagues. “We have lost a dedicated officer who served with commitment and courage. Our thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time, and we wish all those injured a speedy recovery,” he said.
