When passion meets opportunity
Rustenburg – In celebration of World Entrepreneurs Day, which was observed on 21 August 2024, Impala is proud to spotlight the significant role small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) play within the communities they serve. Central to these efforts is the Impala Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme, a flagship initiative that empowers local entrepreneurs and strengthens the economic fabric of the surrounding community.
The Impala ESD Programme is designed to equip local entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a competitive business environment. Since its inception, more than 300 SMMEs have successfully completed the programme – many of which have gone on to become key suppliers and service providers in various industries.
One success story belongs to Rakgadi Maithufi, the co-founder and managing director of Silver Fish Holdings (SFH). Established in 2017, SFH started as a means of survival, and it has evolved over the years into a thriving business that plays a crucial role in supporting other businesses within the community. SFH offers essential back-office support services, including business administration, development and hospitality services.
Rakgadi credits the partnership between Impala and Classic Oriental Consultancy for providing transformative training and the opportunities that have allowed her to expand her business beyond Impala’s network. Today, SFH services the mining industry and has successfully ventured into the agricultural sector and secured contracts with other corporate entities.
Moses Motlhageng, chief executive at Impala Rustenburg, emphasised the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs saying, “At Impala, we believe in the power of entrepreneurship to drive economic growth and uplift our communities. Rakgadi’s story is a testament to what can be achieved when passion meets opportunity.”
