Rustenburg – The Rustenburg Photographic Society continues to leave its creative mark on the local arts scene, offering photographers an inspiring platform to capture the world through their lenses.
For August 2024, several talented photographers were honoured for their stunning work, showcasing the incredible diversity and skill within the society. From majestic wildlife to charming everyday moments, these images tell stories that resonate with viewers.

In the senior category, Frikkie Hitge captured the breathtaking beauty of an ‘Elephant taking a Bath’, reminding us of nature’s grandeur. Ertjies Jacobs, in the junior open category, offered a playful perspective with his image titled ‘Eekhoring’, highlighting the nimble grace of a squirrel.

Jacques McCarthy impressed with not one but three striking photos. His cellphone capture, ‘Smile you’re on Camera’, perfectly encapsulated a candid moment, while his interpretation of abandonment in ‘Forgotten House’ told a haunting story of neglect. His final piece, ‘Wedding Bands for Ever’, under the technical subject of jewellery, reflected the enduring beauty of love and commitment.

The society, dedicated to fostering an active and dynamic photographic community, is committed to helping its members grow. It offers endless opportunities for learning, skill development, and artistic expansion, all while celebrating the joy of photography.

The Rustenburg Photographic Society meets every third Wednesday of the month. For more information, contact club chairperson Ronel Broderick on 082 451 2999 or deputy chairperson Anje Smith on 082 787 4897.
