Caring for the community
Rustenburg – Powertrade Three Star, Food Town Hyper Tlhabane and Food Town Hyper Rustenburg CBD donated 430 blankets to Jacaranda FM’s Warm Fest initiative held in Rustenburg on Saturday 16 July. With winter still in full force, these blankets will go a long way to help protect the less fortunate from the cold.
The giving did not stop there and in celebration of Mandela Day on 18 July, Powertrade Three Star, Food Town Hyper Tlhabane and Food Town Hyper Rustenburg CBD also donated various items to two charity organisations.
Spes Bona is a residential facility that provides safe, quality accommodation to persons with disabilities; and Lighthouse Children’s Home offers a safe haven to vulnerable children. Providing the daily necessities for those in their care is an expensive task.
To lift the financial burden a little bit, the three stores donated groceries, toiletries and cleaning materials to these organisations. They also wanted to celebrate the occasion, so the residents were treated to a fun party and delicious cake.
“The vision we have for our community is that of care, respect and assistance. We made these donations to help keep our community warm and to assist those caring for the vulnerable people in our community to continue doing the great work they do,” said Powertrade Three Star and Food Town Hyper’s Wayne Labuschagne.
