Rustenburg – Darren Archer, 31, believes in the credo of trying and trying again as he prepares to enter the Miss/ Mrs and Mr Deaf South Africa (MDSA) contest scheduled for later this year in Pretoria.

Archer works as the CCTV administrator for Rustenburg Steel Construction and comes from Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape.

A year ago, he entered the MDSA and was lucky to take home the “Mr Deaf Charity” award.

“It took me a while to reconsider to enter again and it was because of the incredible support I received, that I decided to enter again. I have learnt more about deaf culture and the deaf community and how - SASL to be the 12th official language - is important to them,” said Darren.

“I’m feeling very positive about this year’s MDSA and it’s my busiest year because I’m also one of the models during the MMMDG (Miss, Mr and Mrs Deaf Galaxy) another name for Universe hosted by Worthy Women NPC and it’s the first time to be held in South Africa during  two fashion shows at Hartbeespoort Dam in May,” Darren added.
