Platinum gospel music awards launched

Rustenburg/ Phokeng – The North West Province is credited for producing many talented musicians, but no platform was ever created to unearth and polish more of the rough gem stones found in the province, until now.

The launch of the platinum gospel music awards at the Royal Marang Hotel on Friday, 20 April is exactly what many had been crying out for.

The organisers of this musical showpiece stated that “in its first edition, the awards are looked at as the ‘shine’ of the province and will be tapping in all parts of the North West to seek and offer fresh talent in the genre many feels is deserted.

The idea was started by two men with passion for community development, Maxwell Simelane and Hector Mputle. They saw it befitting to run with a project that will put the province in the map of annual glorious events.

The awards will start with an audition phase in all four corners of the province. “The project will go around looking for talent, and nurture it through proper training. With an experienced line of judges, the hopefuls will have an opportunity to work with North West artists that had their fair share in the music industry, including Keabetswe Motsilenyane, Tshedi Mholo, Joey Mofoleng and Modisane Modisane. To work together, they will be identifying the talent, craft it and make it ready for the greatest gospel stage.

The statement said the show starts with a journey at the auditions between June – August, with voting opening from September.
