Rustenburg – For the first time ever, the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy qualifier was brought to Rustenburg on Saturday, 17 February at Dual Sport Adventure.

The bikers and bikes were revved up for the start of the two-wheeled challenge. The track was designed to test endurance, technical skills and mental tenacity.

The nine participants, including one woman, were competing for a place in the national team which will travel to Mongolia in June for the 2018 International GS Trophy. Three of the nine participants qualified for the national qualifying round.

The next leg of BMW Motorrad GS Trophy will be held in the scenic town of Montagu in the Western Cape from 9-13 March. The participants who qualified for the North West region are: Hennie Potgieter, Steven Coetzer and Adriaan Engelbrecht. The reserve for the North West is Gerhardt Visser. We wish all riders well in the next leg of the 2018 BMW GS Trophy!

Alwyn du Toit, dealer principal at BMW, Best Auto Rustenburg, said: “The enthusiasm of the participants to get onto the track and experience the adrenaline rush from riding a superior motorcycle was something else. We thank all riders and spectators for joining us and making this an event to remember.”
