Former Springbok rugby legend Bakkies Botha shared words of encouragement and inspiration with Bergsig Academy learners during his visit to the school.

Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Pump & Abrasion Technologies (PABT), together with sister company Curve Gear and former Springbok rugby star Bakkies Botha, has shown its support for young rugby players by donating custom Hero Rugby Polos to selected school rugby teams and coaches in mining communities across South Africa.

The initiative forms part of PABT’s ongoing commitment to the communities connected to the mining industry. The specially designed polos give players and coaches a smart, unified garment to wear at capping ceremonies, while travelling to matches and when representing their schools off the field.

During visits to participating schools, Bakkies Botha met learners, signed autographs and shared inspiring messages about discipline, teamwork, resilience and character. For many young players, the opportunity to meet the former Springbok was a memorable highlight.

PABT says the project is about more than rugby clothing – it is about recognising the people, families and communities that support South Africa’s mining industry every day, while encouraging pride, belonging and school spirit among the next generation of players.
