From White Belts to Warriors!
Rustenburg – The spirit of dedication and discipline was on full display this June as students from the Tokon Shotokan Karate Association Club (TSKKIA) achieved major milestones in their martial arts journey.
On Saturday 28 June 2025, young karateka Matthew Smith proudly advanced to Level 2 Sword Art in the discipline of Kubudo (weapons training). This impressive achievement highlights his commitment as a student of the Tokon Shotokan Karate A/C and the TSKKIA All Styles Federation.
Meanwhile, from 1 to 3 July 2025, the dojo celebrated another wave of triumphs during a black belt and sensei grading held in Rustenburg. Several students were promoted to black belt status, and others took on the esteemed title of sensei under the watchful eyes of senior instructors and federation leaders.
Among those honoured were McKayla Williams, Taylor Williams, Barend Botha, Lize-Marie Botes, Marcus Malan, Simon Snyman, Willem Rheeders, and Louis Green, joined by proud mentors sensei Ockert Brits, Shihan Willie Coetzee, sensei Wessel Jooste, sensei Anrich Kleyn, sensei Robin Fourie, and kancho Albert Venter.
