Rustenburg – The Rustenburg Impala Rugby Club is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, marking an incredible 135 years of rugby excellence.

Founded in 1890 as the ‘Rustenburg Rugby Club’, the team adopted its current name in 1996 following a merger with Impala Mine. With three national club championship titles to their name, Rustenburg Impala Rugby Club continues to strive for greatness.

The club’s first friendly match will take place on Saturday, 8 February 2025, in Setaria, where they will face off against the Northam Platinum Rhinos. Johan Engelbrecht, the club’s director, praised the team’s dedication, stating, “The players have been training intensely, with practice sessions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:30.” Fans are encouraged to come out and support their team as they kick off another thrilling season.
