Rustenburg – On Saturday 22 June 2024, the Sibanye-Stillwater SAPGM Rugby Club engaged in a thrilling home game against the Welkom Rovers Rugby Club in Rustenburg. Despite a valiant effort, the first team narrowly lost 36-35, and the second team also suffered a close defeat, with a score of 22-20.

Head coach Joel Scherman shared his thoughts on the game, saying, “We played very well against a very good team.” The match saw impressive performances from several players. Sakkie Smit, Jaco Pretorius, Christo Willemse, and Ruan van Rensburg each scored a try for Sibanye. Jaco Pretorius stood out by kicking three penalties, three conversions, and scoring a try, contributing a total of 20 points.

Looking ahead, Sibanye-Stillwater SAPGM Rugby Club is preparing to face Matlosana Rugby Club in Stilfontein on Saturday 29 June 2024. “We are confident in both of our teams for this match. I am sure they will do great,” expressed Scherman optimistically.
