Rustenburg – On Saturday 25 May 2024, the Sappi Karkloof MTB & Trail Festival took place in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal, bringing together top cyclists from around the country. Among the participants were talented juniors from Rustenburg Cycling Club (RCC), selected to represent the North West Team in the SA XCM National Championship. Congratulations to Luan Vermeulen, Anrich Barkhuizen, and Ruan Espach, who tackled the challenging 60km course with remarkable endurance and performance. Their hard work and dedication are truly commendable.

Photo: From left: Luan Vermeulen placed 29th overall with a time of 3 hours and 23 minutes, and 11th in his Men’s Junior u/17-18 category. Anrich Barkhuizen finished 130th overall with a time of 4 hours and 20 minutes, securing 24th place in his Men’s Junior u/17-18 category. Ruan Espach achieved 65th place overall with a time of 3 hours and 45 minutes, and 22nd in his Men’s Junior u/15-16 category. Nico Espach, who also participated in the Male Master u/50-59 category for 60km, finished with a time of 5 hours and 9 minutes.
