Rustenburg – Wico Louwrens proved his mettle by winning the 2022 Rustenburg Golf Club championships. He emerged tops after two days of action on 23 and 24 April.

The showcase – held at Rustenburg Golf Club – attracted a total of 70 golfers who are all active members at the club.

Louwrens was handed the trophy and a R1 500 Pro Shop voucher after his eye for the greens and excellent putting saw him emerging as the best golfer when the curtain came down on the two-day competition.

Johan, Angela and Jonathan Krugel and David Mcbride also won silverware after excelling in the various categories that they took part in during the championships.

“The Rustenburg Golf Club championships is a competition that is held annually to determine the most outstanding golfers among our members,” club manager Ilse Marais said.  “This year’s competition was a resounding success because there was a good turnout and everyone who took part enjoyed themselves,” Marais added.

Marais revealed that Rustenburg Golf Club is now preparing to host the Senior Sunshine Tour from 15 – 17 September 2022. “We are expecting golfers to turn out in large numbers for the event because over the years, it has proved to be very popular.

“It  will  be  a  family day event and we urge all interested community members to also come and be a part of the excitement during the three days,” Marais said.
