GOING FOR GOLD!

Rustenburg – Constable Maetsho Motshabi (35) joined the police force in 2012 and six years down the line, his trophy cabinet is overflowing with trophies and medals that he has won in various races all over the country. His latest achievement was winning the Bojanala 10km in 30min, just one minute shy of the 29min record.

Displaying his prized possessions in the form of medals, Motshabi could not hide the fact that he is not just an athlete of note, but a living example of what the new police minister Bheki Cele described as fit and trim police officers who are able to run and apprehend criminals.

Taking Platinum Weekly through his vast collection of souvenirs, Motshabi singled out two gold medals decorated in the South African colours.

“He is such a motivator to the rest of us, we are fortunate to have him in our ranks. The Rustenburg Cluster Management is proud!” sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, police spokesperson, said.

“This Saturday I will compete at Buffelspoort for the 12 m race and would then prepare for the Soweto Marathon due in November. In 2019 I will be getting ready to compete in Tanzania where I will be representing the national team,” Motshabi said.
