Rustenburg/Phokeng – PlatinumStars hosted the Soweto giants on Saturday, 27 January, at the Royal Bafokeng stadium for the 2017/2018 Absa Premiership match.

The match started in a slow pace for the first 20 minutes, but Justin Shonga broke the deadlock in the 27th minute for Orlando Pirates, with a header at the near post following a pin-point cross from Innocent Maela on the left wing and gave the giants 1-0 lead.

Milutin Sredojevic was forced into a change a minute in the second half, as central defender Gladwin Shitolo went down with an injury and was replaced by Marshall Munetsi.Lorch got the cushion goal for the Bucs with 18 minutes remaining which extended the Giants’ lead.

Dikwena looked dead and buried in the last few minutes as the Soweto giants ran out 2-0 winners on the day.
