Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – A serious motor vehicle accident on Sunday, 30 November 2025, brought the N4 to a standstill near the Rietvlei turnoff when a single vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Fortuner, overturned shortly before 16:41. The crash left one person dead and eight others with serious to critical injuries, prompting a large-scale emergency response effort.

Emergency services rushed to the scene within minutes after Rustenburg First Responders received the initial call. Early information indicated that one occupant had been entrapped inside the overturned vehicle. Responders worked swiftly and carefully to extricate the trapped patient, who was then stabilised and transported for urgent medical care.

In total, nine patients were assessed at the scene. Eight were found to have sustained serious to critical injuries and were treated and transported to various hospitals across the region. Tragically, one patient was declared deceased on the scene despite the rapid intervention of emergency crews.

Ammaar Wadee, administrator of Rustenburg First Responders, expressed heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the organisation, saying: “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”

The incident drew a coordinated response from multiple emergency services, including Rustenburg First Responders, JustMed 24 EMS, Trauma Rescue EMS, Bojanala EMS, Netcare 911 EMS, North West Provincial EMS, the Traffic Department, and Fire and Rescue Services. 

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
