Mooinooi robbery spree brought to a halt
Mooinooi – In a win for justice, a 19-year-old suspect linked to a string of robberies in Mooinooi has been arrested thanks to crime intelligence and teamwork by the South African Police Service (SAPS). The suspect, Amogelang Mashaba, was apprehended on Sunday, 23 March 2025.
Acting on a warrant of arrest and after sustained observation, officers moved in to arrest Mashaba, bringing an end to months of investigations.
According to SAPS spokesperson, colonel Adéle Myburgh, further investigation revealed that Mashaba is allegedly connected to five criminal cases, including three armed robberies and other serious offenses:
Mashaba made his first appearance at the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 26 March 2025. He was remanded in custody and is set to reappear on Friday, 4 April 2025. The acting provincial police commissioner, major general Patrick Asaneng, commended the officers involved.
