Rustenburg – A suspected predator who terrorised women across Rustenburg, Boitekong, and Phokeng is now behind bars. The 36-year-old alleged serial rapist was arrested on Monday, 10 March 2025, during an intelligence-led operation.

Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Public Order Police (POP) officers identified and stopped the suspect’s vehicle in Boitekong, where a search uncovered a replica firearm, handbags, and cell phones — later confirmed to belong to victims.

According to brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, further investigations by Rustenburg Detectives and the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit have linked the suspect to at least five rape cases and nine armed robberies committed between January and March 2025.

His alleged method was calculated and cruel: offering victims a lift before diverting to secluded areas, where he would threaten them with a firearm, rob them, and then assault them.

The accused appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 12 March 2025. He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on Monday, 17 March 2025, for legal representation and a bail application. He also faces charges of possession of suspected stolen goods and is expected to be charged for three additional rape cases.

Acting provincial commissioner, major general Patrick Asaneng, commended the multidisciplinary law enforcement team for their dedication in ensuring the suspect is brought to justice.
