Body recovered in Hartbeespoort Dam after boating incident

Hartbeespoort – The body of a 36-year-old local man was recovered on Tuesday morning after he went missing on Sunday, 9 February 2025, when he fell from his boat on Hartbeespoort Dam.

NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam, SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services, Hartbeespoort Marine Law Enforcement, and the Strategic Rescue Unit (SRU) conducted the search. Witnesses reported the boat, seemingly without a deployed kill switch, circling before running aground.

The man’s body has been taken into the care of authorities, and an inquest docket has been opened.
