Tragedy at Chromewash Plant

Rustenburg – A devastating workplace accident claimed the life of a chromewash plant operator in the Zinniaville Industrial Area late on Saturday evening, 1 February 2025.

According to reports, the worker fell into the plant’s machinery, leading to his drowning. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.

Rustenburg Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene while awaiting forensic investigators and SAPS for the recovery operation.

DA Ward 43 councillor Luan Snyder emphasised the importance of workplace safety, particularly in high-risk industries like mining and chrome processing.
