DAGGA AND LIQUOR SEIZED IN POLICE SWEEP
Rustenburg – The SAPS Vala Umgodi team made a significant arrest on Monday afternoon after following up on a tip-off, which led them to the Bethlehem Drive Taxi Rank in Rustenburg. A 50-year-old male suspect was apprehended, found with a black refuse bag containing a hefty 4.5 kg of dagga. The man was charged with possession of dagga and faced his first appearance before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28 October 2024.
In other police actions, a 36-year-old man in Mooinooi was fined R500 for selling illicit cigarettes, contravening the Counterfeit Goods Act (Act No. 31 of 1997).
Police in Marikana also intervened on Thursday evening, 17 October 2024, when they caught a 26-year-old female suspect violating the Liquor Act (Act No. 27 of 1989) by selling alcohol without a license. Officers seized a range of alcoholic beverages from her premises, issuing her a R300 fine.
