SON ACCUSED OF KIDNAPPING HIS OWN FATHER

Rustenburg – Edwin Monnakgotlha (35), accused of kidnapping, made his third court appearance in the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 23 October 2024. Onnagatas initially appeared on 15 and 16 October and has remained in custody pending his bail application.

The charges against Monnakgotlha stem from an incident reported to Sun City police on Sunday, 13 October. It is alleged that Monnakgotlha kidnapped his father in Ledig village that day. A swift response by Bojanala Sub-District 2 Detectives, Sun City Visible Policing, and Rustenburg Crime Intelligence led to his arrest on Monday, 14 October, in Chaneng village near Phokeng.

Provincial police commissioner lieutenant general Sello Kwena commended the officers for their timely action, which led to Monnakgotlha’s prompt arrest. 

The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the motive behind this alleged family abduction.
