DRUNK? DRIVER HITS CHILDREN AND CRASHES INTO FAMILY CAR

Rustenburg – On Tuesday 16 July 2024, a woman went to pick up her youngest son from a homeschool in East End when they were involved in a serious accident on their way home.

According to eyewitnesses, a silver Kia Sportage, struck two school children in front of Rustenburg Primary School before fleeing the scene. The reportedly reckless driver then ran a red light, colliding with the white Volkswagen City Golf, of the woman and her two boys.

Miraculously, they sustained only minor injuries, while the female driver of the Kia emerged unscathed. The woman (who, according to an eyewitness was visibly intoxicated) was promptly taken into custody by the South African Police Service (SAPS). However, the eyewitness reported not seeing any emergency personnel or anyone administering an alcohol test to the woman at the scene.
