N4 – On the evening of Sunday, 16 June 2024, a troubling incident occurred on the N4 highway between Mooinooi and Brits, at Majakaneng. Vehicles traveling along this stretch were targeted by individuals throwing rocks from a footbridge.

Charmaine van Wyk, public relations manager from Bakwena, confirmed the event, stating, “Yes, we can confirm that we are aware of such an incident involving rock throwing that took on the N4 from the Majakaneng pedestrian bridge.”

Charl Visser, owner of Buffel Sekuriteit, Rustenburg Landelike Diens, and Kroondal Plaaswag, provided further details: “The suspects positioned themselves on the footbridge over the N4 highway, throwing stones at vehicles passing below. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The suspects fled the scene when police from Brits were alerted.

Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone addressed the matter, noting, “A case of malicious damage to property was opened, and no one was arrested.”
