Rustenburg – The Rustenburg Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) experienced a series of break-ins over the past few weeks. On Sunday 2 June 2024, the SPCA was first targeted when intruders broke a section of their wall and stole two blowers and two bush cutters. The second burglary occurred on Tuesday 4 June 2024, when vandals destroyed a dog kennel. Rustenburg SPCA manager and inspector Marisa Kruger recounted, “They even took our braaier where we occasionally have a braai on Fridays to thank our workers for their hard work.”

The third incident happened on Sunday 9 June 2024, when the SPCA’s water meter was broken. Fortunately, thanks to an anonymous benefactor, Del’s Plumbing quickly responded and repaired the meter shortly after the damage occurred. The Rustenburg SPCA, dedicated to the welfare of animals, has been severely impacted by these incidents. The community’s support and vigilance are crucial in preventing such occurrences and aiding the SPCA in continuing their invaluable work.
