Two more rhino poachers in custody

Rustenburg – Two more rhino poachers were arrested on Wednesday 4 July and are now in custody for the killing of endangered wild animals for their horns at the Pilanesberg National Park.

The first poacher was arrested on Monday 2 July when members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) found six rhino horns in a vehicle the poachers were travelling in on the Lindleyspoort road just off the Boshoek/Sun City road.

The six rhino horns are estimated to be valued at R6 million. They are confirmed to be from two cows and a calf from the Pilanesburg National Park which were not yet dehorned.

A statement from the SAPS provincial organized crime unit and game rangers commended the all those involved in the arrest of the poachers.
