Rustenburg – Three men appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 18 April, on a charge of possession of stolen property and were remanded in custody. The three accused are: Anton Ricken (35), Christian Erasmus (20) and Phenyo Siko (23).

According to sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, police spokesperson,

“Phokeng K9 members were on a routine stop and search patrol in the Central Business District (CBD) when they spotted the three suspicious suspects carrying bags and decided to approach them.”

Upon searching the three and their bags, the following goods were discovered: five-rand coins that bear the face of the former president Nelson Mandela in proof sets, medals in proof sets, camera's and laptops, all with the value of more than hundred thousand rand.

Preliminary investigations were immediately conducted, and the suspects were linked to a case of house breakings in Mogwase the night before their arrest
