Rustenburg/ Tlhabane – Three suspects, aged 32, 41 and 46, are in custody following their arrest for a robbery in Tlhabane on Monday, 19 March.

The suspects drove a silver i10 Hyundai and robbed a local shop owned by a foreign national in Oukasie and sped off. Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Flying Squad who were on patrol in the area, received the intel and swiftly responded. They spotted the get-away car a few minutes later at the GG section and signalled it to stop.

Instead, the suspects’ sped away and a chase ensued. The suspects were cornered and arrested a few streets further.

On searching the suspects’ car, the police found an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes, cell phones, groceries and a knife, which was allegedly used in an earlier business robbery.

According to sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, police spokesperson, the suspects are soon to appear before the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court on charges of the possession of suspected stolen property and the possession of a dangerous weapon. A charge of business robbery will possibly be added at a later stage pending investigations.
