Rustenburg – Much progress has been made in the investigation of the houses and property which were set alight in Rustenburg’s East End and Central Business District (CBD) on Monday, 8 January.


Police have made a breakthrough in the case when 14 suspects were arrested on charges of public violence and three suspects for being in possession of illegal firearms. The suspects appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 23 January. The suspects remain in custody and will reappear in court again on Friday, 26 January.

“We are immensely pleased with the arrests of these suspects. The investigation is still ongoing,” says captain Elsabè Augoustides, police spokesperson.
