THAT “TRAFFIC FINE” MAY BE A SCAM…

Fraudsters are sending SMS messages containing fake AARTO links, claiming motorists have outstanding speeding or traffic fines. Some even offer a discount for immediate payment to create a false sense of urgency. Do not click the link, enter personal information or make payment. Instead, verify the fine independently through the official AARTO website at www.aarto.gov.za or contact the RTIA National Call Centre on 0861 227 861. A genuine-looking message is not always genuine… pause and check before you pay.
